Any piece of gear or weapon with two mods attached can only have one mod replaced while the other will be locked to encourage farming and grinding for the rolls you want. Purple (Epic) and Gold (Legendary)gear can each hold two, however Legendary gear comes with its own dedicated, highly powerful mod from Tier 3. Any weapons with a Blue rarity (Rare) can only hold one mod. Slotting mods into your weapon is easy, but there are some restrictions.
